Childish Gambino – Culdesac

Culdesac is the third album from Childish Gambino the alter ego of actor/writer/general cool person Donald Glover. Glover is a true triple threat with the likes of Costner, Willis, McEnroe. Okay, they aren’t really triple threats, they just play guitar every once in a while but come on at least they try. Glover wrote for Emmy winning show 30 Rock, and is now on NBC comedy Community along with Joel McHale, Chevy Chase and Danny Pudi. His first concert in LA sold out and from the videos I’ve seen it was a great show. Culdesac is a great listen, “You Know Me”, “Glory” and “The Last” really stood out to me, Glover really puts himself into his craft and you can hear it in his voice. Shinya Kimura – Motorcycles

The above is a beautiful video about Shinya Kimura. He is a man who builds motorcycles…fast, tough, chrome, motorcycles. He builds the bikes by how he feels at that moment, there are no drawings, no concepts, no model to follow just where his mind and hands take the bike from a sheet of aluminum to a proper old school go-fast bike. He finds peace in the solitude of his work. The bikes he builds bring him closer to the sky and earth.

Dwell Magazine – The Full Spectrum

Dwell Magazine has put together a new 3-part video series on color theory and the different uses of color as well as the influences for those using it. In the part one Aaron Britt, Senior Editor of Dwell, interviews Josef Albers, the father of modern day color theory and part two features James Jurney, owner of Seize sur Vingt, a bespoke clothier in New York City. The videos are beautifully shot and well thought out, examining what color means to people and how it can effect the our lives and those around us. I will post the third part when released.

“I Heart NY” – Samuel

I Heart NY is up and coming R&B singer Samuel’s ode to his hometown city. Already being hyped by the likes of Kanye West for his cover of Drake’s “Find Your Love”, the newly released single is part of an introductory EP being dropped previous to his debut album Trains to Wonderland. The video for I Heart NY was directed by Austin Peters and co-produced my a close friend of mine, Jake Hanley, it puts Samuel in the shoes of a NYC Sanitation worker.

Street Art Walking Tours of East London

The UK has its share of famous street artists, most notably Banksy. But to get a taste of the others Hookedblog is offering walking street tours of East London. The tour will cover the streets of Old Street, Shoreditch, and Brick Lane, which are known as the epicenter for urban art in London. The constantly changing nature of the area’s street art scene means that new pieces will be going up as fast as quickly as pieces are taken down. I moved to London last December, around the same time 4 friends from West London were making some news in the UK music scene. Mumford & Sons debut album Sigh No More is the fruition of their hard work. With high energy, melodic, masterfully crafted lyrics and a sound that even a mother could love. As a one time Political Science major i obviously have an interest in Politics. And as an American I am proud of my country and what it had to do to become its own sovereign nation. But now a days people get too caught up in Party’s and personal views so much that forward progress for our people gets put on the wayside. That said heres a little video to show how the meetings of the American forefathers actually occurred.

When people who love politics, pop culture and filmmaking are asked to humanize the sentiment of the founders in writing the declaration, we sometimes get carried away. And every now and then, they let us run with it.
